Managing Director Stuart Smith has represented Lord Combustion Services in a panel discussion focusing on how businesses are responding to the challenge of reaching net zero.

The discussion formed part of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce’s Quarterly Economic Survey event, which was attended by business representatives from across the West Midlands region.

Stuart was joined on the panel by Dan Downes of Mercia Group Services and Ben Towe from Hadley Group.

Led by Black Country Chamber Sales & Marketing Director Sian Roberts, the panel discussed some of the steps that businesses can take to reduce their carbon emissions, how they can record them and where they can seek further advice from.

Speaking after the event, Stuart said: “It was fantastic to be invited to take part in this important discussion in front of an audience from across the West Midlands.

“Reducing carbon emissions is a topic that most organisations are now talking about, and given our work helping clients to implement energy-efficient heating and hot water solutions we were well placed to be part of the conversation.”

The Quarterly Economic Survey meeting is a prestigious event for the Black Country Chamber of Commerce that reveals the latest economic data on the Black Country.

July’s event, which took place at the Mercure Birmingham West Hotel in West Bromwich, gave an up-to-date picture of the performance of the Black Country business community in the build-up to the general election.

Lord Combustion Services made the West Midlands Net Zero Business Pledge to reduce its environmental impact as it marked its 40th anniversary in 2022, during a visit by former West Midlands Mayor Andy Street.

Overseen by regional champion Sustainability West Midlands on behalf of the West Midlands Combined Authority, the Net Zero Business Pledge is undertaken by businesses as part of the drive to “lead the green revolution and become a net zero carbon economy by 2041”.

In 2021 Lord was recognised for its achievements in reducing clients’ environmental impact by winning the sustainability trophy at the West Midlands Business Masters Awards, organised by regional news website Business Desk.
