Commercial heating and ventilation specialist Lord Combustion Services has become a founding Flight Patron for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

As a Flight Patron, Lord will directly support the vitally important ongoing advanced training, development and operational costs of the charity’s critical care paramedics.

The charity’s aircrew operate in some of the most challenging environments. They are trained to provide enhanced medical care to those who need it most, bringing hospital services to patients 365 days a year to give them the very best chance of survival and a good recovery.

Flight Patrons will help by future-proofing the charity and ensuring its critical care paramedics have the skills and resources they need to continue providing critical care in high-pressure situations.

Lord has partnered with Midlands Air Ambulance Charity since 2019 and donated more than £43,000.

Lord managing director Stuart Smith said: “We are proud to be a longstanding partner of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and to play our part in making sure that their critical care paramedics remain at the forefront of pre-hospital emergency care, saving lives across the Midlands.

“They work in some of the most challenging environments and require training at the highest level.”

Last year Lord raised £20,000 for Midlands Air Ambulance by hosting a charity ball and also funded a new Toyota Yaris for the good cause so that the organisation can continue to receive blood and blood products for its lifesaving service.

In its first year of service, the blood delivery vehicle covered more than 32,000 miles and completed 320 round trips, conveying blood between the Blood Bank at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s Strensham airbase on the Worcestershire-Gloucestershire border.

Pam Batson, corporate partnerships manager at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “Corporate partnerships are an essential force keeping us in the air, and we’re grateful for every business that has helped to raise awareness of our charity.”

Having opened for business in 1982, Lord now has a team of nearly 50 engineers and support staff, delivering services for more than 1,000 sites across the Midlands, including 300 schools and hundreds of health sites.

The company has been recognised for its work on sustainability and environmental impact, having successfully delivered significant retrofitting heating and hot water projects for the likes of the landmark Edgbaston cricket stadium in Birmingham.
